Women's Soccer Downed By JWU (Providence), 3-0

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's soccer team was defeated by JWU (Providence) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Wednesday night at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex, 3-0.

With the loss the Raiders fell to 8-8-5 (8-2-3 GNAC) while the Wildcats improved to 14-3-1 (12-0-1 GNAC)

The Wildcats came out strong, scoring two goals in the first 13 minutes of the match. The Raiders began to find their rhythm as the game progressed, but struggled to create significant scoring opportunities, closing out the half down 2-0.

JWU sealed the victory by netting a third goal in the 60th minute, taking a 3-0 lead and effectively ending any hopes of a Rivier comeback.

Reigning GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week, Bri Nugent, recorded nine saves in the contest.

The Raiders look to regroup as they travel to Elms for a GNAC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Timothy J. Leary Field.
