NASHUA, N.H. – In a highly contested non-conference matchup, the Rivier women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Mass. Maritime on Tuesday night at Merrill Field.
With the result, the Raiders stand at 0-2-2 (0-0-1 GNAC) while the Buccaneers moved to 0-1-1 (0-0-0).
The first half showcased a competitive contest, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. The Raiders outshot the Buccaneers 7-3 and were awarded 4 corners in the opening 45 minutes of play.
Junior forward Emily Harper converted from the spot to score her second goal of the season and break the deadlock just three minutes into the second half to give Rivier a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Mass. Maritime converted on its lone shot on goal in the half to equalize and see the game out at 1-1 draw.
The Raiders outshot the Bucs, 19-7, with Rivier putting nine shots on target compared to Mass. Maritime's six.
Junior goalkeeper Bri Nugent recorded five saves in the stalemate.
