Women’s Soccer Ends in 0-0 Deadlock with Albertus Magnus

NASHUA, N.H. – In an afternoon honoring 12 student-athletes graduating at the end of this academic year, the Rivier women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play against Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon at Merrill Field.

With the draw, the Raiders now post a record of 7-4-4 (7-1-2 GNAC) while the Falcons hold a 7-3-3 (5-3-2 GNAC) record.

Albertus Magnus opened the match applying heavy offensive pressure. The Falcons recorded five shots, two on net, in the first 13 minutes of action. Albertus Magnus would outshoot the Raiders nine to two in the opening frame, but neither team was able to score before the break.

The second half began much like the first as the Falcons continued to apply pressure. Albertus Magnus added four more shots to their total in the opening five minutes of the half.

Heading into the final minutes, senior Kaylee Magoon and graduate student Darcy Wright gave the Raiders their best looks of the day but would be denied in the end.

Senior Maya Puma and junior Bri Nugent both appeared in today's contest, tallying 10 saves in the combined shutout.

The Raiders are back in action on Oct. 16, as they travel to Weston, Mass. to take on Regis (Mass.) in a GNAC matchup at Regis Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
