NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier women's soccer was handed a 3-0 loss in a non-conference matchup against Nichols on Wednesday afternoon at Merrill Field.
The Raiders fell below .500 with the loss, as their record dipped to 2-3-2 overall. The Bison improved to 3-2-2 with the victory.
Nichols broke the deadlock with 6:39 remaining in the first half as Meagan Butler sent a pass from the top of the box to Megan Tucker who placed a shot just over Rivier's keeper to give the roadside a lead going into halftime.
The second half opened with a quick Bison goal as Falyn Hunt finished off a run with a shot into the bottom left corner to double the Nichols lead with 34 minutes to play. The Bison scored a third and final goal with 4:28 to play as Sophia English swung a cross into the box that was headed away by Alana Snow.
The Bison outshot Rivier 20-9. Senior goalkeeper Maya Puma made 8 saves in the setback.
The Raiders will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition as they host Simmons on Saturday, Sept. 21 at noon on Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.
