Postseason Performances Earn Paxson and Hinkley MASCAC Weekly Awards
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After contributing to victories over Framingham St. and Worcester St. in the first two rounds of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament, Rivier seniors Briana Paxson and Rachel Hinkley earned MASCAC weekly awards, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Paxson scored in both the quarterfinal and the semifinal to boost the Raiders past the Rams and Lancers to be named the Player of the Week. In Friday evening's semifinal win in Worcester, Paxson scored the contest's lone goal with just 1:17 to play in regulation to send Rivier to the inaugural MASCAC Championship.
Hinkley, the Goaltender of the Week, was solid in net in each postseason appearance, making 21 saves and allowing just one goal in a 5-1 win over Framingham St. on Wednesday before turning in a 29-save shutout, her fourth of the season, in a 1-0 win at Worcester St.
Paxson, Hinkley, and the No. 3 Raiders will head north for their fourth matchup against the top-seeded Panthers on Friday, March 7 with a 6:00 p.m. puck drop scheduled at Hanaway Rink.
