Women’s Ice Hockey Shuts Out Anna Maria in MASCAC Opener, 4-0

Post-Game Comments: Drinkwater & McGaheran

NASHUA, N.H. – Junior right winger Jessica Driscoll scored 13 seconds into the Rivier women's ice hockey team's 4-0 victory over Anna Maria in Friday night's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opener.

The victory marked the first for head coach Marykate Drinkwater, who took over the program in May.

Rivier improved to 1-2-0 (1-0-0 MASCAC) while the AMCATS remain winless at 0-3-0 (0-1-0 MASCAC).

The Raiders doubled their lead 3:17 after Driscoll's tally as sophomore right winger Molly Hurley scored on a feed from first-year Keegan McGaheran.

McGaheran earned her second point of the night 3:52 into the second period as she scored her first collegiate goal on a low shot from the slot on a feed from senior Brianna Rumptz.

Sophomore left winger Rebecca McKelvey capped off Rivier's scoring efforts with a power-play goal from the top of the slot on a rush from the neutral zone.

Senior goaltender Rachel Hinkley made 15 stops in her first shutout of the season as the Raiders outshot the AMCATS 33-15.

Rivier continues MASCAC play in a matchup with Framingham St. on Saturday, Nov. 9 with an 8:40 p.m. puck drop scheduled from Loring Arena.
