Women’s Ice Hockey Stumbles at Anna Maria, 3-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Rivier women's ice hockey team was edged out by Anna Maria in a Friday night Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) showdown at Buffone Arena, falling by a final score of 3-2.
 
The Raiders fell to 8-9-1 (5-3-1 MASCAC) with the setback while the AMCATS improved to 8-11-1 (5-4-1 MASCAC).
 
After a scoreless first period, Anna Maria got out in front 2-0 by the 11:55 mark of the second as Camryn Beauvais and Emma McGuane potted a pair. The Raiders battled in the second half of the frame as sophomore Rebecca McKelvey scored with 5:30 remaining in the frame before Breezy Parent added a powerplay goal in the final minute to level the score at 2-2 prior to the second intermission.
 
Anna Maria converted on an early powerplay try 1:28 into the third period to regain a one-goal lead which remained until the final buzzer.
 
Senior netminder Rachel Hinkley made 14 stops in the setback.
 
The Raiders will continue MASCAC play in a 2:00 p.m. showdown at Plymouth St. on Saturday from Hanaway Rink.
