Women’s Basketball Soars Past Dean, 99-51

FRANKLIN, Mass. Lyric Grumblatt continued her historic run this afternoon, as she broke the three-point all-time record at Rivier University. She scored six threes today, totaling 241 so far in her career. Grumblatt and the Riv women's basketball team defeated the Bulldogs of Dean 99-51 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Feb. 10 in Pieri Gymnasium.

The Raiders are now 9-15 overall and 7-6 in GNAC play, while Dean is 0-11 in the GNAC and 2-19 on the season.

It was an all-around effort from the Raiders, with each player in attendance getting on the board.

In the first half Riv buried 56 points, with Dean only scoring 16.

Grumblatt led Rivier with 27 points and Alexa Dufries trailed behind with 15 points. Off the bench, Sophia Abdallah totaled 11 points on 22 minutes.

Dean's Cat Thomas and Maranda Cournoyer each contributed 12 points, but it was not enough to compete with the Raiders.

The Raiders shot 43.6% from behind the three-point line and 54.3% from the field, while the Bulldogs shot in the mid-twenties for each.

Rivier plays their final regular-season GNAC contest at home on Feb. 13 against Mitchell at 7 p.m. and will celebrate senior night in the Muldoon Center.
