Grumblatt Levels Up to NEWBA Weekly First Team
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – After averaging 33.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game and being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, Rivier women's basketball guard Lyric Grumblatt was slated on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly First Team. Grumblatt's efforts in two road games helped the Raiders to a 1-1 (1-0 GNAC) week.
Framingham St. was the first opponent of the week in non-conference play, and despite the 83-72 defeat to the 9-0 Rams, Grumblatt recorded 33 points. eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block.
Rivier earned its GNAC win in a road win over Elms on Saturday thanks in massive part to Grumblatt's 34 points, 13 rebounds, nine steals, and five assists.
On the week, Grumblatt shot 22-of-47 (46.8%) from the field and 7-of13 (53.8%) from deep.
This is Grumblatt's second consecutive NEWBA honor as she was named to the Second Team last week. The Raiders will return to play on Saturday, Jan. 6 with a road GNAC matchup at New England Col. set for a 1:30 p.m. tip-off at Bridges Gym where they will look to improve their overall record of 3-8.
