Grumblatt Moves Up Scoring Ladder in 70-59 Win Over Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Rivier women's basketball standout senior guard Lyric Grumblatt continued to make history as her 25-point performance in a 70-59 conference road victory over Colby-Sawyer put her second in the program's all-time scoring list with 1,744 points.

Grumblatt sits only behind current head coach Deanna Purcell '15 who posted 2,192 during her time in Nashua.

The Raiders moved to 8-15 overall and evened out their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record at 5-5. The Chargers fell to 7-15 (4-7 GNAC).

With a 41-29 lead in hand at halftime, Grumblatt led the way for the Raiders offensively with 15 points, followed behind by Alexa Dufries scoring 14 points on 4-of-7 (57.1%) three-point shooting.

Rivier fended off a second-half comeback bid by the Chargers to hang on for a 70-59 victory.

The Raiders outrebounded Colby-Sawyer, 46-45, with Jessica Carrier leading the way with 13. Grumblatt had 11 rebounds in a double-double effort.

Both Carrier and Grumblatt recorded five of the 14 Rivier steals as the Chargers turned the ball over 22 times. Rivier took advantage of the Colby-Sawyer miscues, scoring 21 points off turnovers.

Rivier hits the road again on Saturday, Feb. 10 for a 1:00 p.m. GNAC clash against Dean from Pieri Gymnasium.
