Grumblatt Named GNAC Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Fresh off a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Second Team, Rivier women's basketball senior guard Lyric Grumblatt averaged a double-double with 33.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to be named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week following a 1-1 (1-0 GNAC) stretch for the Raiders.
In Thursday night's defeat at previously unbeaten Framingham St., she dropped 33 points while securing eight rebounds and recording six assists, two steals, and a block.
On Saturday, the Raiders evened their GNAC record at 1-1 with a road victory over Elms in which Grumblatt went off for 34 points, 13 rebounds, and finished one steal shy of a triple-double with nine. She finished with five assists.
On the week, Grumblatt shot 22-of-47 (46.8%) from the field and 7-of-13 (53.8%) from deep.
Rivier has hit the winter break with an overall record of 3-8 and will return to GNAC play with a road tilt at New England Col. on Saturday, Jan. 6 with a 1:30 p.m. tip-off from Bridges Gym.
