Men’s Volleyball Splits with Sage and Nichols

DUDLEY, MA: Rivier men's volleyball split the day, taking down Sage in game one, then falling to Nichols College in game two. Both contests were non-conference matchups.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/18/23

- Score: Rivier 3, Sage 0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-18). Nichols 3, Rivier 2 (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 10-15)

- Records: Rivier (6-5), Sage (3-11), Nichols (9-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match One

-  The Raiders handled Sage with relative ease taking the match 3-0. Riv bolstered a .403 kill percentage, totaling 35 kills to Sage's 17. Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA) led the way with nine kills. Isaac Borges (New Boston, NH) finished just behind him with eight. Neil Rea (Windham, NH) dished out 31 assists.

-  For Sage, Elijah Tortorici topped his team with six kills. Ryan Jennings tallied 12 assists giving him a team-high.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 35, Sage 17

-  Assists: Rivier 32, Sage 17

-  Digs: Rivier 17, Sage 15

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match Two

-  The Raiders went up 2-0 on the Bison but dropped the following three sets. Luis Martinez topped all with 19 kills. Carlos Mercado was second on the team with 11. Dylan Urbanski fell just shy of 50 assists with 48.

-  For the Raiders, Borges led the way with 13 kills. Ly finished just behind him with 12. Rea had a solid performance, finishing with 45 assists.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Nichols 57, Rivier 53

-  Assists: Nichols 53, Rivier 49

-  Digs: Rivier 41, Nichols 38
