Men’s Volleyball Tops Emerson

NASHUA, NH: Rivier men's volleyball took down Emerson College this evening in a long battle in GNAC play.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/7/23

- Score: Rivier 3, Emerson 1 (28-26, 24-26, 25-14, 36-34)

- Records: Rivier (2-3, 2-0 GNAC), Emerson (0-6, 0-2 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The two teams traded wins between the first two sets, with the Raiders taking the first and the Lions taking the second. Riv came out in the third set and took it easily, even though it was their lowest kill set with just nine. The fourth and final set went deep into extra points, with the Raiders eventually taking it 36-34. Rivier tallied 20 kills in that set, marking the highest on the night. Emerson was kept in the match throughout due to the Raiders racking up 27 service errors.

- The Raiders offense was comprised of a duo between Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA) and Chris Lezon (Lincoln, RI). The two combined for 35 of the team's 62 kills, with Ly having the match-high of 18 and Lezon finishing with 17. Ethan Soltis (Massillon, OH) and Neil Rea (Windham, NH) split setting duties this evening. Soltis ended with 31 assists, and Rea finished with 26.

- For Emerson, Neiko Pittman was the hot hand and the go-to for setter Bryson Beck. Pittman had 17 kills to go with his seven digs. Beck dished out 23 assists in the effort for the Lions. Luke Roehm contributed 11 kills and topped all with 14 digs.
