DARTMOUTH, MA: Rivier men's hockey fell to the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth this evening.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/21/23

- Score: Dartmouth 4, Rivier 1

- Records: Dartmouth (5-9-2), Rivier (5-9-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Dartmouth got on the board just eight seconds into the first period. Cade Hanley got them on the board after receiving a pass from Justin Weinbrenner and Ryan Mascali.

- After a scoreless second period, the Corsairs added two more goals, with the first coming on a power play opportunity from Tyler Stewart. Dominic Dumas tacked on the second in the period 13:59 in. Rivier got on the board 14:31 into the third on a goal from Jon Tavella (E. Longmeadow, MA) after receiving a pass from Nicolas Paolucci (Toronto, ON).

- Dartmouth would add on one final goal on an empty net to get the 4-1 final. Michael Mania was credited with the final score of the evening.

- Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) was tagged with the loss falling to 3-5-2 on the season after racking up 34 saves. Marshall McKallip got the win and improved to 1-1 on the season after saving 33 shots.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Rivier 40, Dartmouth 38

-  Penalties: 8 minutes on 4 infractions. Dartmouth also had 8 minutes on 4 infractions.

-  Power Plays: Dartmouth was 1-for-4, Rivier was 0-for-4.
