Men’s Hockey Opens Season in a Draw with Alvernia

READING, PA: Rivier men's hockey opened up the 2022-23 season with a Draw to Alvernia University this evening.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/28/22

- Score: Rivier 2, Alvernia 2

- Records: Rivier (0-0-1), Alvernia (0-0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Golden Wolves got on the board first just 1:10 into the first period on a power play goal by Logan Vande Meerakker.

- The Raiders would tie it up in the second period on a power play goal of their own by Alfred Rotiroti (Chicago, IL) score 5:47 in. Under a minute later, Riv would take the lead after Logan Dapprich (Amherst, MA) beat the Alvernia tender to go up 2-1. The lead was short lived for the Raiders. At 17:02 into the second, the Golden Wolves would knot it back up at 2-2 to get the final on a Sawyer Senio on another power play opportunity.

- Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) was in net for Riv tonight, seeing 32 shots while saving 30. Colin Cain saw 37 shots, saving 35 for the Golden Wolves.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Penalties: Rivier 6 minutes on 3 infractions, Alvernia 19 minutes on 8 infractions

-  Power Play: Alvernia 2-for-3, Rivier 1-for-8.
