Men’s Hockey Bested by JWU

PROVIDENCE, RI: Rivier men's hockey was defeated this evening by Johnson & Wales.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/9/22

- Score: JWU 5, Rivier 1

- Records: JWU (2-10-1), Rivier (5-7-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a scoreless first period, the Raiders would get the scoring started 14:58 into the second. Jack Tos (Burlington, ON) put Riv up 1-0 on a power play score. JWU would tie it up a minute later on the power play by a Hayden Haldane goal.

- The Wildcats would finish the game by scoring four more goals in the third period to get the 5-1 final. Kevin Bite and Sam Band netted the first two goals of the period. The third was scored by Brandon Shandley on the power play. JWU's final goal came by way of an empty net 15:12 into the period, giving Band his second goal of the game.

- Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) saw 23 shots on net and saved 19 of them. Jacob Perrin got the win putting him at 1-10-1 on the season after making 18 saves.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: JWU 24, Rivier 19

- Penalties: Rivier had 18 minutes on 9 infractions. JWU had 12 minutes on 6 infractions.                                              

-  Power Play: JWU was 2-for-8, while Rivier was 1-for-5.
