Women's Volleyball earns three set sweep over Eastern Nazarene

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team improved to 23-6 overall on the season with a three set sweep against the visiting Eastern Nazarene College Lions this evening at the Muldoon Gymnasium in non-conference action. The loss sends the Lions to 3-24 on the season.

The Raiders were able to take the three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-22.

Sophomore Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.) laced seven kills and both junior Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) added five kills in the victory. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) directed the offense with 27 assists and freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) in conjunction with Pisecco, controlled the defensive line with 8 digs. Sophomore Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) provided a solo block while recording a perfect hitting percentage on four kills.

Eastern Nazarene had a solid effort from Kortney Jenkins, who led the game with 10 kills. Lauryl Berger chipped in with 13 assists and Hannah Welsh added five kills for the Lions. Joanna Joseph was stellar along the net as she had two block solos.

The Raiders will wrap up the 2014 regular season on Saturday afternoon as they host the University of Saint Joseph and Mount Ida College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match at the Muldoon. The first game between Rivier and USJ will begin at 11am.

Eastern Nazarene will also be in action on Saturday as they travel to Rhode Island College for a non-conference tri-match with RIC and Keene State.
