Women's Volleyball takes two from Southern Vt. and Colby

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team hosted a non-conference tri-match this afternoon at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders were victorious in both matches with 3-0 scores while Colby College went 1-1 and Southern Vermont College dropped both games in straight sets. Rivier is now 12-5 overall on the season while Colby improves to 8-3 and SVC falls to 4-6 on the season.

Game One: Rivier University 3, Southern Vermont College 0 (Final)

Sophomore Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) swung at a .375 clip and laced 8 kills as the Raiders easily took the day's first game in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-6 over Southern Vermont.

Freshman Alex Trevains (Litchfield, N.H.) was outstand along the net as she recorded a .667 hitting percentage with 4 kills. Sophomores Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) added five and four kills, respectively. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) directed the offense with 25 assists and junior Lyndsey Sweeney (Coventry, R.I.) provided defensive help with a team high 12 digs. McCormack also had double-digit digs with 10 to go along with her 6 service aces.

Jessica Delgado was the offensive leader for the Mountaineers as she had five kills. Alexandra Sinicropi added 4 assists and Brin Goldman had 8 digs to lead the team.

Game Two: Colby College 3, Southern Vermont College 0 (Final)

The middle match of the day featured the Mules of Colby College against Southern Vermont. Colby received a five kills game from Kate Wincek and a pair of four kill efforts from Kim Donaldson and Alexa Busser on their way to a three set win by scores of 25-14, 25-8 and 25-24.

Emily Moslener had the game high with 18 assists while Megan Michie led the Mule defensive efforts with 14 digs. Natalie Roy also contributed 12 digs in the win. Moslener also had a day from the service line as she had 10 service aces.

Delgado was once again the leader for the Mountaineers as she had 6 of the team's 7 kills. Goldman was the other SVC student-athlete to be credited with a kill. Sinicropi had 5 assists and Danielle Simmons recorded the game high with 15 digs.

Game Three: Rivier University 3, Colby College 0 (Final)

The Raiders swept the day as they were able to take three straight sets from Colby College by scores of 25-20, 28-26 and 25-16.

McCormack and Silverman registered double-digit kills in the win for Rivier. McCormack was the team high with 11 kills while Silverman garnered 10. Also shining bright offensively for the Raiders were Mott, who had 8 kills, and sophomore Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.), who had 5 kills. O'Reilly once again collected the game high with 33 assists and freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) recorded 13 digs.

Karolina Serhan was the team offensive leader for Colby as she knocked down 9 kills and Sarah Arvidson added 8 kills. Moslener tied O'Reilly with 33 assists and Roy collected 12 digs.
