Women's Volleyball wins one, drops one in GNAC Tri-Match

(Standish, Maine) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team saw their impressive Great Northeast Athletic Conference winning streak come to an end this afternoon in a GNAC Tri-Match hosted by Saint Joseph's College. The Raiders were beaten by Emmanuel College, 3-1 in their first game of the day before trouncing the Monks, 3-0 in the final game.

Game Two: Emmanuel College 3, Rivier University 1 (Final)

The Emmanuel College Saints took the final three sets as they handed the Raiders their first conference loss of the season, 3-1. The Raiders took the first set 25-21 before falling 19-25, 22-25 and 20-25.

Sophomore Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) led the offense for Rivier as she knocked down 11 kills and totaled three solo blocks. Junior Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) each added 7 kills with sophomore Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) providing six kills in the loss. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) had 26 assists and both junior Lyndsey Sweeney (Coventry, R.I.) and freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) played stellar defense with 15 digs apiece.

Game Three: Rivier University 3, Saint Joseph's College 0 (Final)

Rivier responded to their first GNAC loss with a dominate three set triumph over Saint Joseph's College by scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-10.

The Raiders had a steady offensie attack across the board as not one student-athlete had more than five kills. Both McCormack and Mott were the team leaders with 5 as Pisecco (4), Silverman (3), O'Reilly (1) and freshman Jordan Donohue (Meredith, N.H.) all recorded kills in the win. O'Reilly directed the Raiders with 15 assists and the combination of McCormack and Trevino totaled 20 digs.

Rivier is now 17-6 overall on the season and hold a 4-1 mark in the GNAC. They will face a tough test in their next contest as they travel down to Providence, Rhode Island and square off against Johnson and Wales University on Saturday, October 18th.
