Women's Volleyball victorious over Westfield State

(Springfield, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team continued their winning ways this evening as they defeated Westfield State University in three straight sets in their opening game of the Springfield College Invitational.

Rivier was able to take the three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23.

Sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) had an outstanding evening as she totaled a .367 hitting percentage with a team high 14 kills while collecting 8 digs. Sophomore Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) added another stellar game by knocking down 9 kills and a .412 hitting percentage. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) provided assistance as she had 36 assists with 13 digs and freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) continues to shine with 20 digs. Junior Lyndsey Sweeney (Coventry, R.I.) also had four service aces in the three set win for Rivier.

The Raiders are now 3-1 on the season and will wrap up the Invitational tomorrow morning against Stevens Institute of Technology and Springfield College.
