Silverman named GNAC WVB Defensive Player of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced today that Rivier University sophomore Lauren Silverman has been selected as the Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Silverman was fantastic on the defensive side of the net for the Raiders last week. The Chelmsford, Mass. native recorded 11 blocks in just six sets played for a 1.83 blocks per set average. Offensively, the 5-11 middle blocker had a .625 hitting percentage and 2.50 kills per set.

Silverman recorded six total blocks in the team's 3-0 win over Anna Maria on 10/22, including three block solos. In the 10/25 match against Norwich University, in which the Raiders won 3-0, she totaled five blocks (1 block solo, 4 block assist). 

This is the fourth time that a Raider has been named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week. Freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) was selected three times already this season.
