O'Reilly leads Women's Volleyball to five set win at Framingham State

(Framingham, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team survived a fourth and fifth game surge by the host Framingham State University Rams to pick up a thrilling 3-2 victory (19-25, 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12) this evening in non-conference action at the Athletic Center.

The Raiders improve to 22-6 on the year, while the Rams are now 20-11 on the season.

The Raiders received strong performances from sophomores Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) and Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.), who recorded 15 kills apiece. Mott had a solid day defensively with 10 digs, while Silverman chipped in a pair of blocks. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) filled the stat sheet with a match-high 43 assists, 19 digs and five kills, while sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, NY) recorded a double double with 10 kills and 13 defensive digs.

The Rams were led by 10 kills, eight digs and a block from junior Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.). Classmate Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) had a solid all-around game with nine kills and a match-best 22 digs. Senior Courtney Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) picked up 16 digs, while sophomore Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) racked up nine kills and nine digs with an ace.

The Raiders return to the court on Thursday evening as they host Eastern Nazarene College, 7pm in the Muldoon. The Rams are back in action on Saturday with the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Regular Season Title on the line when they travel to Westfield State University at 1 p.m.
