Women's Volleyball remains unbeaten in the GNAC

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team ran their Great Northeast Athletic Conference regular season winning streak to 17 games this evening as they defeated visiting Simmons College in four sets at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 16-5 overall on the season and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. Simmons falls to 3-13 and are now 3-2 in the GNAC.

Sophomore Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the way for Rivier as she hammered down 16 kills with a .407 hitting percentage. Junior Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a .417 hitting percentage and 13 kills while sophomore Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) continues to dazzle with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) provided 45 assists and freshman Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) had the team high of 14 digs. Sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) had 8 kills and 8 digs to help the winning effort and junior Lyndsey Sweeney (Coventry, R.I.) had 10 digs.

Simmons saw a pair of student-athletes reach double-digit kills as both Emee Ashby and Cailin Fredrickson led the offense. Ashby had the team high with 14 kills and a .409 hitting percentage. Fredrickson added 11 kills and Sara Woodward contributed 7 kills in the loss. Andalyn Duke dished out 34 helpers and Alex Itasaka had the game high of 15 digs and three service aces.

Rivier will return to GNAC action this upcoming Saturday afternoon as they travel up to Standish, Maine for a tri-match with Saint Joseph's College and Emmanuel College. Simmons will also be in GNAC action on Saturday as they travel to Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn.
