Lanzillo Named to GNAC Men’s Soccer Third Team
WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its 2024 All-Conference selections on Wednesday afternoon, naming Rivier senior midfielder Thomas Lanzillo to the men's soccer Third Team.
As a captain, Lanzillo played an important role in the team's offensive build-up, helping Rivier set a new record for the most goals in a season (38) and achieve its first winning record since the 2000 campaign at 7-6-7. Lanzillo's leadership in the midfield was instrumental in guiding Rivier to its first playoff appearance since 2016 and first Quarterfinal appearance since 2000.
Lanzillo was also a cornerstone of the Raiders' defense, contributing to a record-breaking season that included the most shutouts in program history (8) and the fewest goals conceded in a regular season (18 total, including 12 in GNAC play).
This recognition marks the first All-Conference honor of Lanzillo's four-year stint with the Raiders. The Mansfield, Mass. native appeared in 63 games, starting in 60 of them.
