Men’s Soccer Closes Regular-Season with 1-0 Victory Over Emmanuel (Mass.)

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team downed Emmanuel (Mass.), 1-0, on Tuesday night at Merrill Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action to conclude its regular-season slate and nab the seventh seed in the conference's postseason tournament.

The Raiders finished the regular-season with a record of 7-5-6 (5-4-5 GNAC) while the Saints fell to 10-5-2 (9-3-2 GNAC) heading into the playoffs.

The victory marked the first for Rivier over Emmanuel since the 2009 campaign.

After a scoreless first half, Riv first-year forward Alejandro Quezada slotted in a penalty try to give the home side the lead in the 49th minute.

The Raiders would hold on for the remainder of the contest to secure sophomore keeper Logan Clough's sixth shutout of the season.

Rivier will face off against Lasell in the GNAC Play-In round on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. on Merrill Field. The Raiders came away victorious with a 1-0 win in the previous matchup between both squads back on Sept. 28.
