Men's Soccer Battles Norwich to Scoreless Draw

NORTHFIELD, Vt. The Rivier men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday evening at Sabine Field.

The result marked the end of a nine-game skid to the Cadets, dating back to 2015. Additionally, the draw halted Norwich's four-game winning streak.

With the outcome, the Raiders slid to 4-3-4 (2-2-3 GNAC), while the Cadets moved to 4-4-1 (3-3-1 GNAC).

The first half saw limited but promising scoring opportunities for both teams, with neither able to break the deadlock. The Raiders' best chance came from senior Hayden Bilodeau, whose strike from outside the box forced the Norwich keeper into a save. Despite the back-and-forth pressure, both defenses held strong, leaving the score tied at 0-0 heading into the break.

Bilodeau remained a constant threat in the second half, hitting the woodwork just 45 seconds after the restart. The Raiders continued to push forward, with senior Jason Harlow providing the only on-target shot for Rivier in the half. However, both defenses stood firm, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Raiders outshot the Cadets, 9-7, with two of those shots landing on target. Junior goalkeeper Logan Clough recorded one save in the match, earning his fifth shutout of the season.

The Raiders will return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 9, when they take on Colby-Sawyer in GNAC play at Kelsey Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
