NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener against Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday night at Merrill Field.
The Raiders moved to 2-0-2 (0-0-1 GNAC) while the Blue Jays now hold a record of 0-3-1 (0-0-1 GNAC).
Sophomore keeper Logan Clough made two saves in the first half as both teams went to the break with nothing to show for their efforts.
Rivier's best chance came as sophomore Cameron Rodrigues fired a shot off a rebound but was blocked by a Blue Jays defender to thwart the Raiders' opportunity. Clough made four more saves in the second half, including one in the 87th minute on a straightaway free kick, to earn his second shutout of the campaign.
Rivier hits the road for a GNAC clash at Albertus Magnus on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Celetano Field.
