Men’s Soccer Drops Conference Clash at Saint Joseph’s (Me.)

STANDISH, Maine – The Rivier men's soccer team fell to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Saint Joseph's (Me.) by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Field.

The Monks struck early, converting off a corner kick just three minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead.

Both teams struggled to generate quality scoring opportunities for the remainder of the half, which ended with Saint Joseph's holding the slim advantage.

In the second half, the Monks continued their offensive pressure, adding a second goal with 21 minutes remaining. Rivier was unable to respond, and the game concluded with a 2-0 victory for Saint Joseph's.

Sophomore goalkeeper Logan Clough put forth a strong performance for Rivier, recording seven saves in the match.

The Raiders will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they face GNAC opponent Lasell as part of Alumni Reunion Weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
