Men's Basketball edged by Lasell College

(Nashua, New Hampshire) Trailing by three with seconds left, the Rivier University Men's Basketball team was able to hit a tip-in as time expired in the 91-90 loss at home to Lasell College on Thursday evening.

Senior Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) scored a season high 37 points as the Raiders fall to 7-13 overall and 4-9 in the GNAC. Junior Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) added 18 points and senior Nick Walch (Dedham, Mass.) chipped in 13 for Rivier. Sophomore Kywane Thomas (Hartford, Conn.) also reached the double-digit point mark before fouling out as he collected 10 points. Poitras was 14-for-24 from the field and 8-for-9 from the line.

Lasell was guided by Brandon Ganesh who knocked down 11-of-12 from the charity stripe for his team high 26 points. Brock Walters came off the bench and provided the sharp-shooting skills from beyond the arc as he was 6-for-10 from 3-point land and finished with 20 points. Clyde Niba finished the evening with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the games only double-double.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will travel up to Saint Joseph's College in Maine and Lasell will host Suffolk University. Both games will be at 3pm.
