Men's Basketball comes up short against Emmanuel

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered their fifth GNAC loss this evening as visiting Emmanuel College defeated the Raiders 69-57 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Senior Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) led the way for Rivier as he went 6-for-15 from the floor for 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Classmate Nick Walch (Dedham, MA) added 12 points and 8 rebounds while senior Emmanuel Smith (New York, NY) contributed 7 for the Raiders.

Emmanuel's offense was paced by freshman Kyle Smith (Los Angeles, CA) who tied Poitras for the game high with 18 points. Smith finished the evening 8-for-13 from the field. Four other Saints scored in double digits with both junior Jordan DeMario (Aliso Viejo, CA) and freshman James Sullivan (Wethersfield, CT) chipping in 10 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench. Senior Josh Welles (Philadelphia, PA) – 13 points - was the other Saint with double figures.

Rivier, who falls to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the GNAC, will host Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon in a 1pm GNAC contest. Emmanuel (3-10 overall, 1-6 GNAC) will also be back in action on Saturday as they host Anna Maria College.
