Poitras' double-double leads men's basketball past Mount Ida

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team earned their 3rd Great Northeast Athletic Conference win of the season as they defeated the visiting Mount Ida College Mustangs this evening, 70-63 at the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Senior Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) scored a team high 20 points and a game high 14 rebounds for the Raiders while junior Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) added 16 points. Senior Nick Walch (Dedham, MA) and sophomore Kywane Thomas (Hartford, CT) both knocked down four field goals for 11 points.

Junior Treace Macklin (Brockton, MA) led the Mustangs with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Freshman Ethan Dujon (Warwick, RI) also scored 22 points. Sophomore Michael Joseph (Windsor, CT) contributed with a total of 14 points.

With the win, Rivier improves their record to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in the GNAC. Mount Ida falls to 4-14 overall and 2-9 with the conference. Next up for Rivier will be Norwich University on Saturday, February 1st. The GNAC contest will begin at 3pm in Northfield, Vermont. Mount Ida returns to action on Saturday as they host Suffolk in a 1pm GNAC tilt.
