WESTON, Mass. – The Rivier field hockey team came up just shy of a come-from-behind victory against Regis (Mass.) on Wednesday evening, falling to the Pride by a final of 2-1 in overtime at Regis Stadium.
With the loss, the Raiders fell to 2-7 (1-5 GNAC), while the Pride improved to 3-5 (2-3 GNAC).
Rivier would start the game in the driver's seat, leading in shots by a margin of 3-0.
Regis (Mass.) flipped the script in the second quarter, finding two early shots on goal. The Prides' third shot would find the back of the net, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Raiders would take the next four shots on goal, with the fourth being a game-tying strike from graduate forward Chloe Sicard off a penalty corner from senior midfielder Hailey Morse just over two minutes into the fourth quarter.
The Pride would find their stride in the late going, and 2:53 into overtime, Regis' Frankie Alley would call game notching her second goal of the day to take down the Raiders, 2-1.
Senior goalkeeper Kylie Coupal tallied three saves in the contest.
The Raiders are back in action to take on Lasell on Saturday, Oct. 5 for their inaugural Pink Out game to raise money for the National Foundation for Cancer Research. The match is set to start at noon at Merrill Field.
