Field Hockey Downs Falcons in GNAC Opener

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey team took home its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference win of the year as they defeated Albertus Magnus, 2-0.

With the win the Raiders improved to 2-2 (1-0 GNAC), while the Falcons fell to 0-4 (0-2 GNAC).

Rivier brought the pressure early, outshooting Albertus Magnus 12-0 in the first half.

The Raiders would continue their offensive momentum going into the second half. Senior Hailey Morse would find the back off the net on a pass down the middle of the crease from sophomore Brianna Spinelli to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Rivier would find twine for the second time just over two minutes into the fourth quarter. Senior Madison Bovill rifled a pass from fellow senior Jacklyn O'Connor to the top of the shooting circle to ice the game at 2-0.

Raiders' goalkeepers, Kylie Coupal, and Lily Gifford both saw action in today's contest.

Rivier is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 18 for more GNAC action as they face off against Dean. The matchup is set for 4:00 p.m. at Grant Field in Franklin, Mass.
