Women's Basketball falls at Emmanuel, moves to 3rd in the GNAC

(Boston, Mass.) In what could be a GNAC Tournament Championship match up, the Rivier University Women's Basketball fell to Emmanuel College this afternoon at the Jean Yawkey Center, 81-66. Rivier drops to 17-6 overall and now have a 7-2 GNAC mark while the Saints remain perfect in the GNAC with a 9-0 record and currently have an overall mark of 17-6.

The Raiders were led by junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) who had 17 points and senior Jaclyn Penniman (Dudley, Mass.) who added 16 points. Senior AJ Guidi (Derry, NH) came off the bench and added a team high 18 points in the loss.

Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) led the Saints with 15 points while Vanessa Bramante (Stoneham, Mass.) added 13 points off the bench in the win. Jasmine Burwell (Brentwood, NY) contributed 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Saints.

Emmanuel will return to the court on Tuesday (2/18), when the Saints host the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University in a 5:30 PM start. Rivier also plays on Tuesday, when the Raiders hosts Simmons College in a 7:00 PM start.
