Butterfield's Double-Double leads Women's Basketball past Lasell

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team used a 5-3 run over the final two minutes of action to hold off a tough Lasell College squad, 78-75 in a thrilling Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening at the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Freshman Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, NH) was the force that the Raiders needed as she tied junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) for the team high with 15 points – but more importantly Butterfield pulled down 10 rebounds for her 2nd double-double of the season. Freshman Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, NH) added 14 points off the bench and senior AJ Guidi (Derry, NH) dropped in 12 points as Rivier upped their overall record to 17-3 and remain untouched in the GNAC with a perfect 7-0 mark.

Molly Lauver was lights out for the Lasers in the contest as she knocked down 5 three-pointers on her way to a game high 21 points. Alexis Chappell was also a major reason as Lasell stayed in the game as she had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Kayla Vincelette also reached the double-digit plateau with 14 points.

Rivier will return to action as they face a talented Saint Joseph's College of Maine team up in Standish, Maine on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 1pm. Lasell (3-14 overall, 0-3 GNAC) will host Simmons College in a 1pm GNAC tilt on Saturday afternoon.
