Women's Basketball rolls to victory behind Guidi's 25 points

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Women's Basketball continued their winning ways this evening as they rolled to a 87-49 victory over visiting Mount Ida College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

The win lifts Rivier's overall record to 15-4 with an unblemished 5-0 GNAC mark while Mount Ida falls to 3-14 overall and 0-3 in the GNAC.

Rivier saw the entire roster get on the floor and score at least two points minus seniors Laura Yesu (Concussion) and Ryan Baker (Flu). The team was led by senior AJ Guidi (Derry, NH) who drained 7 three-pointers on her way to 25 total points. Junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) added 16 points and senior Erin Sweeney (Chicopee, MA) chipped in with 10 points in the win. Senior Jaclyn Penniman (Dudley, MA) collected a team high 9 rebounds to go along with her 9 points.

Mount Ida was led by freshman Angelique Martinez (Taunton, MA) who had a 13 point, 8 rebound night for the Mustangs. Freshman Stephanie Champoux (Tewksbury, MA) added 10 points while classmate Brittany Crosby (Rivierside, RI) provided 9 points off the bench.

Both teams will remain in GNAC action for their next scheduled contests on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will make the 2 ½ hour ride up to Northfield, Vermont with a matchup against Norwich University, a 1pm game time. Mount Ida will also be on the road as they make the trip to Hartford, Connecticut for a 1pm tipoff with the University of Saint Joseph.
