Nashua, NH – Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) registered a game-high 16 points and Jaclyn Penniman (Dudley, Mass.) added 14 points and seven rebounds, guiding Rivier past host Daniel Webster, 85-63 in the 23rd all-time meeting between the crosstown women's basketball foes Tuesday night in a game played on the Rivier campus.

Caitlin Perry (Nashua, N.H.) added 11 points off the bench for the Raiders (3-1) while Savannah Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) and Britney Lane (Waterford, Vt.) each scored nine.

Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) led the Eagles (2-4) with 14 points and eight boards, while Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, Conn.) had 12 points, Ariel Guzman (Yonkers, N.Y.) scored 11, and Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) tallied nine. Natalie Nagle (Dolgeville, N.Y.) chipped in with six points and eight caroms.

Kayla Free (Quincy, Mass.) added six points for DWC including a running 45-footer to beat the halftime buzzer. Page Pierson (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) notched five points.

Rivier led wire-to-wire and used an 11-0 run over two and a half minute span midway through the first half to help build as much as a 13-point lead and held a 45-34 advantage at the break.

The Eagles twice kept the deficit at 12 early in the second including a Giampetruzzi jumper with 17:23 left for a 50-38 game, but Purcell answered from downtown and Butterfield would later convert three straight layup attempts over a 1:49 span to push the lead out to 17 (61-44) and DWC was held to five points over the final four minutes.

Rivier outshot DWC 41-39 percent and outrebounded the Eagles 45-40 but DWC was undone by 28 turnovers leading to 30 Raider points.

The Eagles return to action next Tuesday as they open their New England Collegiate Conference schedule hosting Newbury at 6:00 p.m.

Rivier, which now leads the all-time series with the Eagles 14-9, visits Framingham State next Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
