Sweeney, Baker lead Women's Basketball past CCNY by 27

(Nashua, New Hampshire) Seniors Erin Sweeney (Chicopee, Mass.) and Ryan Baker (Whitinsville, Mass.) combined for 38 points as the Women's Basketball team improved to 8-2 on the season with a convincing 93-65 triumph over visiting City College of New York this evening at the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Sweeney connected on 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and was 7-for-11 overall from the floor as she reached her season high in points with 21. The floor captain Baker was relentless as she not only knocked down 8-of-13 from the floor but also provided five assists and five steals in her 28 minutes of action. Freshman Savannah Butterfield (Londonderry, NH) recorded 11 points and 6 rebounds while junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) added 10 points as four of the five Raider starters notched double-digit nights. Freshman Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, NH) was stellar off the bench as she contributed 11 points and four steals on the night.

The Beavers were led by Syreeta Williams who had a solid night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bria Fisher also joined the double-double club as she had 13 points and 11 rebounds of her own. Karissa Core and Giovanna Blanco had 12 and 11 points, respectively and Marissa Olsen added 9 off the bench for CCNY.

CCNY falls to 3-7 on the season and was outshot by the Raiders 44.9% to 38.7%.

The Raiders will host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon at 1pm as they begin the Great Northeast Athletic Conference portion of their schedule. CCNY will also be in action on Saturday as they host Lehman College in a CUNYAC contest scheduled for 2pm.
