Rivier earns 7th seed in first ever NCAA DIII MVB Tournament

(Springfield, MA) The National Colligate Athletic Association announced the top nine schools that will compete for the first ever Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament Championship. With an overall record of 26-8, a perfect 14-0 mark in conference and capturing their 5th straight GNAC Championship, the Rivier College Raiders were awarded the #7 seed in the Tournament that will begin on April 27, 2012.

Springfield College, the Tournament host, was given the #1 seed after they went an impressive 30-5 and will kick off the tournament with a 12:30pm game against the winner of the 8/9 matchup which features Baruch University (23-14) and Elms College (20-7).

Rivier will take on the 2nd seeded Slugs of the University of California – Santa Cruz. UC Santa Cruz went 17-6 in 2012 and were Champions of the CVC. Game time is set for 5:30pm.

The other two games in the quarterfinal round will feature #4 Kean (25-10) vs. #5 Hunter (25-8) at 2:30pm and #3 Carthage (27-5) vs. #6 Nazareth (27-8) finishing the night with a 7:30pm start time.

Tickets are on sale VIA the Springfield College athletic website. Single game prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students, who show their ID, and seniors. The All-Tournament pass is being sold for $15 (adults) and $15 (students/seniors).
