Raiders top Emmanuel in four games at home

(Nashua NH) Rivier College defeated the visiting Emmanuel in four sets 3-1 remaining undefeated in the GNAC's while handing out the Saint's first division loss.

The Raiders (7-2 overall, 4-0 GNAC) were led by a strong offensive effort by freshman Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA)  and sophomore Aaron Almario (Alhambra, CA) who both had 14 kills on the night. Senior Andrew Corwin (Framingham, MA) also had a strong night with 10 digs and 10 kills against the Saints. Almost hitting the half century mark junior Steve Visentin (Cheshire, CT) had 49 assists on the evening.

Emmanuel's Saints (4-3 overall, 4-1 GNAC) gave the Raiders a tough match-up avoiding the sweep and taking the second game.  The Saints were led on the court behind their hard hitting freshman Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, CA) who had the most kills in the match-up with 16. Junior Nick Updike(Manhattan Beach, CA) carried the team defensively with 6 digs and also led the team with 38 assist.

Rivier returns to action next Saturday (2/25) where they will compete in the Baruch Tournament over the weekend. Emmanuel will face their next match-up on the road against Harvard University next Wednesday (2/22)
