Raiders down Lasers, 3-0 in MVB Action

(Nashua, NH) #10 Rivier College came out on top in three straight sets as they played host to the visiting Lasell College in a GNAC match-up.

The star player for the Raiders (15-6 overall, 7-0 GNAC) was once again sophomore Aaron Almario (Alhambra, CA) who had 6 kills and 4 blocks on the evening while only playing in 2 out of 3 sets. Junior Steve Visentin (Cheshire, CT) also contributed with 26 assists, 3 digs, and 3 service aces while reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week Chris Markuson scored a match high 8 kills.  Sophomore Terry Matatall was on the fours with 4 kills, 4 digs, and 4 ace serves in just 2 games. 

The visiting Lasers (8-11 overall, 2-6 GNAC) put together a strong performance from their sophomore outside hitter Vincenty Ithier (Newington, CT) who compiled 3 kills, 2 aces, and tied for the team high with 7 digs. Also leading the team was sophomore Tim Anderson (Danville, NH) who led the team in kills with 5 and also tacked on 5 digs as well.

Raider Volleyball returns to action on the road this weekend as they travel to Beverly, Massachusetts where they will participate in the Endicott Invitational. On Saturday 3/24 the Raiders will square off against #12 Hunter College (2pm) and #15 SUNY-New Paltz (6pm). Rivier will then battle New Jersey City University (10am) and #5 Stevens Institute of Technology (12pm) on Sunday 3/25.
