#10 Raiders remain perfect in the GNAC

(New Haven, CT) The #10 ranked Rivier College College Raiders improved to a perfect 6-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win at Albertus Magnus College.

The Raiders (12-6 overall) took the three straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 27-25.

The Rivier offense was led by freshman Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA) who laced 8 kills on the night. Classmate Brendan Tutino (Manorville, NY) added 6 kills in the two sets he saw action in. Both senior Tajh Stokes (Salem, NH) and sophomore Steven Coulson (Huntington Beach, CA) recorded four kills apiece in the win. Senior Alex Xenidis (Shelton, CT) had an impressive 4 Block Assists for the Raiders. In total, 14 different Raiders saw playing time on the night.

For Albertus Magnus, who fell to 10-3 overall and 0-3 in GNAC competition, they were paced by Glenn Johnson and Brendan Charamut. The pair recorded 14 of the teams 23 kills in the game. Chase Brinton and Carlos Torres recorded 8 digs each for the Falcons.

The Raiders will return to action tomorrow as they continue to head south along the Atlantic coast. Rivier will square off with New Jersey City University before battling Vassar College at NJCU. The next home contest for Rivier will be on March 20th when they welcome GNAC opponent Lasell College to the Muldoon Gymnasium.
