Rivier sweeps Emerson in Men's Volleyball action

(Boston, MA) The Rivier College Raiders swept the Emerson College Lions on their own home court tonight in three straight sets, handing them their first loss of the season while remaining undefeated in the GNAC.

The Raiders (3-1 overall, 3-0 GNAC) were led once again by their big sophomore Aaron Almario(Alhambra, CA) who swung .833 and tied for the team lead in kills with 5 with senior Alex Xenidis (Shelton, CT) and freshman Shane Spellman (Norwich, CT). Sophomore Alex Wezellis (Churchville, NY) led the team with 29 assists and senior captain Chris Convertito (Trumbull, CT) led the team with 10 digs.

On the side of the Lions (2-1 overall, 0-1 GNAC) they were led by freshman Connor Burton (Valencia, CA) who had 4 kills on the night and senior Stephen Selnick (Cheshire, CT) who had 12 assists and 3 digs.

Rivier will return to action Saturday(2/11) at the MIT invitational tournament where they will take on Stevenson (4:00pm) and Elms (6:00pm). The Lions will also return to action this weekend at MIT where they will face MIT (4:00pm) and Endicott (6:00pm).
