Men's Soccer topped by Norwich, 4-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team allowed four second half goals this afternoon in the team's 4-0 loss to visiting Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Raider Field. The loss evens the Raiders' overall record at 7-7-1 and sets them back to a 3-4-1 conference mark. The Cadets, meanwhile, remain undefeated in the GNAC at 5-0-3 and are now 8-4-3 overall in 2016.

Norwich senior Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) broke the scoreless tie almost four minutes into the second half as his unassisted tally made it 1-0 in favor of the visitors. Freshman Luke Gleadle (Gilbert, Ariz.) would provide enough insurance as he netted his fourth and fifth goals of the season at 63:15 and 67:33. His first goal of the game came off a corner kick set play from senior Moab Schiers (South Weber, Utah) and his second goal was a beautiful header on a cross from Zimmerman.

Junior Ransford Ahenkora (Bronx, N.Y.) found the back of the net for the first time this season as he knocked home a feed from Carlos Guerra with time expiring.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) corralled three saves on the afternoon while counterpart, senior Billy Whaley (Northfield, Vt.), stopped all five shots he faced.

Rivier will close out the 2016 regular season with a GNAC tilt on Saturday afternoon as they travel to East Boston, Mass. for a date with Suffolk University. The Cadets, who locked up a home playoff game in the upcoming GNAC tournament with the win, will finish out the conference schedule with a road trip to Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.
