Men's Soccer steals 3-2 victory from Lasell

(Newton, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team received a late goal from senior Alex Armstrong (Wakefield, R.I.) as they defeated Lasell College this afternoon, 3-2 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held at Lasell's Taylor Field.

The win pushes the Raiders above .500 with a 6-5-1 overall record and more importantly gives them a 2-2-1 GNAC mark. Lasell, meanwhile, falls to 1-11 (0-6 GNAC).

After senior Jerry Krahn (Greene, R.I.) netted his first goal of the season just 93 seconds into the contest, the Raiders would find themselves trailing 2-1 mid-way through the second half.

A foul inside the 18, gave Rivier an opportunity to tie the game and senior Kyle Gambeski (Bedford, N.H.) capitalized on the penalty kick for his third goal of the season. Armstrong then would send the team home happy as he collected a loose ball of a Lasell miscue and knocked it home at 71:12.

Freshman Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) earned his fifth win of the season as he stopped seven shots while Lasell's own freshman keeper, Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) totaled six saves.

Rivier, who has earned points in each of their last three conference contests, will look to keep the good vibes going as they host Albertus Magnus on Monday afternoon. It will also be Senior Day at Raider Field as the program honors the seven seniors who have made a tremendous impact on their time in Nashua.
