Men's Soccer tops Albertus Magnus, 2-0 on Senior Day

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team earned their third consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference win this afternoon with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Albertus Magnus College at Raider Field. The win improves the Raiders' overall record to 7-5-1 with a 3-2-1 mark in the conference.

The seven wins for Rivier is their highest overall total since 2004.

Senior Jerry Krahn (Greene, R.I.) netted his second goal of the season at 34:29 in the first half for the eventual game winner. Classmate Alex Armstrong (Wakefield, R.I.) would tack on an insurance goal at 65:46 off a feed from junior Ben Noelk (Georgetown, Mass.).

Krahn's goal was all that freshman goalkeeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) would need as he stopped both shots that Albertus Magnus fired on net. Counterpart, Joe Ross made four saves for the Falcons.

Prior to the start of the game, the Raiders honored their seven departing seniors with a pre-game ceremony. The senior class has been the foundation for the program's turnaround during their four years on the Rivier campus.

The Men's Soccer team has four games remaining in 2016 with three of them on the road. Next up will be another GNAC battle on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Boston, Mass. for a 3pm kickoff with Emmanuel College.
