Women’s Hockey Falls to Bears of Potsdam

POTSDAM, NY: Rivier women's hockey fell this afternoon to SUNY Potsdam.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/3/22

- Score: Potsdam 6, Rivier 1

- Records: Potsdam (6-4), Rivier (2-5-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Potsdam went up 1-0 after the first period. Keely Towne netted her first of two in the contest just 9:14 in.

- The Bears would pour it on in the second period adding five goals. Kaylee Merrill scored the first two, followed by Towne, Emily DellaNeve, and Alex Quin.

- The Raiders would break the shutout in the third period on a Power Play goal by Jessica Driscoll (Tewksbury, MA) after quick passes from teammates Jillian Hallee (Berlin, NH) and Briana Paxson (Eagle River, AK).

- Rachel Symmes (Chugiak, AK) took the loss in the game, dropping to 0-2 on the season. She saw 47 shots on net and saved 41. Ellie Zurfluh saw 19 shots, saving 18 and improving to 2-4 on the year.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Potsdam 47, Rivier 19

-  Penalties: Potsdam 6 minutes on 3 infractions. Rivier had 4 minutes on two infractions.

-  Power Plays: Rivier was 1-for-3. Potsdam was 0-for-2.

- Rivier women's hockey will be back next Friday when they travel to Castleton University to play in their tournament. They will face Castleton on Friday at 4:00 PM.
