Field Hockey wraps inaugural GNAC season at Simmons, earns 6th seed in tournament

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team finished on the wrong side of a 5-0 decision this afternoon on the road at Simmons College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Winsor Field. The Raiders are now 5-11 overall and have a 1-5 mark in the GNAC while Simmons remained perfect with a 5-0 GNAC record and are currently 11-4 overall.

Senior Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) made a remarkable 17 saves on the afternoon as the Shark's offense unleashed a total of 30 shots, 22 of which were on net.

Simmons got a two goal performance from senior Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) as they were able to sneak five shots past the quick Flagg throughout the 70 minutes of action.

The Raiders finish the inaugural GNAC Field Hockey season with a 1-5 record and have secured their first ever postseason appearance with the Sixth seed in the upcoming tournament. They will wait until Saturday evening to find out where they will travel for the first round of the GNAC tournament, which will be played on November 1st.
