Flagg, Archambault named Student-Athletes of the Month

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Department of Athletics has announced this afternoon that senior Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) and sophomore Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) have been named the 2014 Rivier Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2014.

Flagg, a member of the Field Hockey team, has backstopped the Raiders into their first ever post-season tournament with a tremendous month. The team went 5-3 over the eight game month and Flagg was a big reason for the success. The senior goalkeeper recorded shutout wins against Regis, Daniel Webster and Becker while making a total of 58 saves in eight games. Her goals against average was just 1.93 over that span. This is the first time that Flagg has been named the Rivier University Female Student-Athlete of the Month.

Another goalkeeper was selected as the Male Student-Athlete of the Month as the Men's Soccer team's Gary Archambault received the honors. The second year keeper made 91 saves in nine October game for the Raiders. This included a double overtime shutout of Norwich University on October 18th when he successfully stopped all 16 shots he faced. His goals against average for the month was 1.68 as he played in over 859 minutes between the pipes. This is the first time that Archambault has been selected as the Rivier Male Student-Athlete of the Month.
