(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell at the hands of the visiting Elms College Blazers this afternoon, 3-0. The Raiders are now 1-6 overall on the season while Elms improves to 1-7 in 2014.
Elms got the day started as they were able to net their first goal just five minutes into the contest. Imogen Leonard knocked home a pass from Kayla Narly to give the visitors a lead. Elms' Emma Morgan would add an unassisted goal just before halftime to provide insurance in the win. The third and final goal for Elms came from Alyssa Falvo who received a pass from Stephanie Esposito in the 42nd minute.
Senior goalkeeper Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) made six saves in the loss. Samantha Alvino stopped all four shots she faced for the team's first victory of the season.
The Raiders will enjoy a week of rest before they get ready to host Johnson and Wales University on Saturday (9/27) afternoon. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest will begin at 3:30pm at Raider Field. Elms College will travel to Westfield State for their next date of competition on Wednesday afternoon.
